• New York City and Cape Town Tourism have signed a two-year city-to-city alliance to boost tourism. They will share marketing assets to be activated in 2018 that will aim to boost seasonal travel. South Africa is the largest African origin market for visitors to NYC, recording 50,000 visitors in 2015. The US is Cape Town’s second largest market. In 2015, 30 percent of arrivals to Cape Town from the US originated at or travelled via New York City airports.

Travel agents can pre-order 2018 Regent Seven Seas brochures from Encore Cruises. The GSA will provide a bonus US$200 commission for each new booking until the end of September.

• Thompsons Holidays has five nights at The Village Coconut Island in Phuket with flights, transfers and breakfast daily, free non-motorised sports from R10,120 ex-JNB. Pay by October 7 for travel until October 31.

• Perfect Destinations is promoting 10 percent savings on Globus coach tours for travel this year. Book by September 30.

A revamp of British Airways’ Concorde Room lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5 will be completed next month. The venue is exclusively for First passengers. BA said last month, more than 200,000 First, Gold Executive Club and oneworld Emerald customers had passed through The First Wing exclusive check-in area, which opened in April.

Oceania Cruises’ Oceania Nautica will operate a South African Explorer roundtrip Cape Town voyage, leaving December 6.

• MSC Cruises will introduce a new complimentary shoreside activities service, Port Info, onboard its new flagship MSC Meraviglia, with plans to expand the service onto all of its ships. Passengers will be provided with personal, tailored and expert information on what to see, where to eat, where to visit and how to get there. Private tours and experiences can also be arranged.
