• The Louvre Abu Dhabi will open to visitors on November 11, 2017. The museum city  is on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s cultural centre, and is the first museum of its kind in the Middle East. Tickets cost 60 AED and 30 AED for visitors between the age of 13 and 22.

The new VisitBritain website has been launched for the international travel trade, which can be accessed on all devices. It is based on feedback recommendations from retailers and suppliers and features new product, themed itineraries, destination information, promotional opportunities, research results and an events calendar. • African airlines reported a 6.5 percent increase in traffic compared to a year ago, down from 9.8 percent demand growth in June, according to the International Air Transport Association’s latest passenger demand figures. Load factors in the region jumped to 74.1 percent. Globally, load factors rose to 84.7 percent.

• Thompsons Holidays is promoting South Africa September deals, including a two-night self-drive special with breakfast at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort near Ballito from R2,145. Valid for travel September 15 – 17.  Includes 15 percent savings on spa treatments and 15 percent on dinner at the OSA restaurant Thursday to Saturday.

• World Leisure Holidays has packages to Mauritius, including seven nights at the Anelia Resort & Spa with transfers and a half-day transfer to Grand Bassin from R14,600 for travel February 7 – 14, 2018.

• The Holiday Factory has launched a new-look website: www.theholidayfactory.co.za. There is easy search functionality for Bali, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Thailand, Victoria Falls and Zanzibar, online brochures and an agents-only zone for bookings, fact sheets, price guides and marketing resources.

• Qantas is promoting fares to Bali from South Africa from R16,210.

• Club Travel Corporate is now verified as a Level 1 contributor according to the Tourism Sector QSE B-BBEE Code. Club Travel Group Managing Director Wally Gaynor said the status had been achieved through black ownership and black women ownership and that skills development, economic and social development had been prioritised.
