INDONESIAN authorities were coordinating travel arrangements and emergency accommodation last week for those affected by disrupted services to and from Bali. Ash clouds from the Agung volcano caused major delays and cancellations at several international airports. Authorities were monitoring the situation every six hours but warned before the weekend more bad weather could cause more delays.

According to Destination Asia, by the end of last week volcanic and seismic activity had decreased but alert levels had stayed at their highest.

Operations on the island were generally running as normal, the company said, although its activities in East Bali remained suspended.

Airlines waived penalties for amended flight arrangements due to the conditions. Further updates are expected if the situation changes significantly, the operator explained.
