TRAFALGAR said it had taken notice of recent travel warnings by the US State Department before withdrawing its 2018 Cuba travel programme.

South Africa Managing Director Theresa Szejwallo confirmed last week: “Unfortunately, the 2018 Cuba programme will no longer operate.” Trafalgar is currently the only Travel Corporation brand with a Cuba programme.

In September, the US State Department warned US citizens not to travel to Cuba. It claimed numerous US embassy employees in Havana had been targeted in hazardous electronic attacks over the past several months.

“Affected individuals have exhibited a range of physical symptoms including ear complaints and hearing loss, dizziness, headache, fatigue, cognitive issues, and difficulty sleeping,” the agency said. The responsible party is still unknown but the State Department said steps were being taken to prevent attacks on diplomatic personnel and US citizens.
