KULULA holidays will incentivise travel agents to book more business online with better pricing and strategic campaigns planned to boost sales over off-peak periods. The strategy will help fill excess capacity and target first-time travellers.

The operator reported a 55 percent increase in online bookings for Mauritius during its latest financial year. Online sales for Thailand have also risen.

Desmond O’Connor, head of kulula holidays and MT Beds, said the growth came from trade and direct sales.

All bookings are commissionable but, Mr. O’Connor revealed, favourable pricing was available for certain online packages to encourage web bookings, to free up the call centre and improve delivery.

Off-peak packages are being added to stimulate new business and address over capacity, he revealed.

“For Vic Falls in May, we did a deal with one of the hotels for R4,800 for two nights. Everybody wanted to go. I think that is where we are now looking at going.”
