CLUB Travel has marked its 30-year anniversary with an ambitious five-year growth plan, targeting R5-billion sales by 2022.

The group is experiencing strong growth from its expanding network, including new strategic partnerships and a growing number of affiliates.

The company marked its anniversary with a long-service awards evening at the Cape Sun last month. Thebe Tourism Chief Executive Officer Jerry Mabena, Rian Bornman, FlightSite Director, Club Travel Financial Director Gary Mulder and Wally Gaynor, founder and Managing Director, presented the business’ evolution and transformation and gave a glimpse of the future.

Turnover by the group’s ITC and franchise division reached R1.36-billion in 2017, Mr. Mulder said.

Estimating R2-billion in sales by 2020, FlightSite’s prospects were positive, said Mr. Mulder, who hinted at “big plans” to grow the group’s leisure business. Details will be revealed in the near future.

Club Travel’s market share is currently around 10 percent but the aim is to grow to 15 – 20 percent in the next five years.

Mr. Gaynor commented: “We have become a tech company more than a travel company,” but emphasised the group had “worked hard to keep its culture and Club DNA”.

“We have reinvented ourselves so many times… We continue to reinvent and find new markets,” he said.
