SURE TRAVEL Chief Executive Officer Vanya Lessing and the Association of Southern African Travel Agents have paid tribute to Laurie Wilkinson, owner of Sure Travel Studio and a former ASATA chairman, president and board member. Mr. Wilkinson, who died earlier this month, was also APJC chairman for several years and served on the board of Sure Travel. He was chairman from 2008 until 20016.

Mr. Wilkinson and wife Mary ran the Sure Studio Travel business, open for more than 25 years.

Ms. Lessing acknowledged Mr. Wilkinson’s contribution over many years and said: “It is with deep sadness that we say farewell… Laurie was an industry stalwart who could always be counted on, in good times and bad times.”

ASATA said Mr. Wilkinson was hands-on, experienced and outspoken on travel industry matters.

“Laurie will be remembered as a passionate mentor… always ready to offer advice and assist on industry issues and concerns and offering up his personal time to contribute to building a successful travel industry for South Africa… [He] played an integral role in ASATA over the years.”
