INDIA has introduced a new biometrics requirement for South African passport holders, starting this week. Data comprising fingerprints and facial imaging can be submitted at the airport in India upon arrival or when visa applications are submitted in South Africa at VFS Global offices in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

However, officials have recommended the process be completed ahead of departure and warned that the process may be lengthy at airport entry points.

Biometrics will remain valid for 59 months from the date of enrolment and customers will not need to resubmit within that period.
