TBCSA TO ADDRESS IMMIGRATION ISSUES
Date published 31.10.2016
THE Tourism Business Council of South Africa has reported a positive response from the government to its request for dialogue on issues relating to immigration regulations.
Meetings are being arranged with Director-General, Mkuseli Apleni, to discuss delays and congestion at OR Tambo, and with Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa, to seek intervention on issues negatively affecting the industry.
The issues include congestion as a result of the biometric data system implementation, the provision of visas for students, the requirement for accommodation establishments to keep a record of guests’ identity documents, and the need for unabridged birth certificates for visitors from visa-exempt countries.
