THE TOURISM Business Council of South Africa has elected former South African Reserve Bank Governor Tito Mboweni as Chairman. The appointment was ratified at the organisation’s annual general meeting last week. Mr. Mboweni replaces Mavuso Msimang.

Mr. Mboweni was Minister of Labour from 1994 to 1998. He was governor of the Reserve Bank for 10 years. Currently, he is an international advisor to Goldman Sachs International and chairman of several other companies, including Nampak and the Accelerate Property Fund.

Ravi Nadasen, from the Tsogo Sun Group, will be Deputy Chairman. He succeeds Clifford Ross of the City Lodge Hotel Group, although Mr. Ross will remain as a board member.
